  1. Unless you bought the 2300$ tower model, your options are limited, but there's a few things.

    Mac Mini:

You can swap out your 2.5" drive for a larger capacity one

You can put in a bigger RAM module.

    iMac:

    Add RAM modules

Replace hard disk with a much bigger unit, currently up to one terabyte

Upgrade CPU (no, really, some can be changed)

You could appropriate the wi-fi card's mini PCI-express slot

    There's USB ports :D

  2. You could buy a new mac for 10 time what it's worth.

  3. If you have a tower, you can usually add at least a second hard drive.

Or, get an external firewire drive.

The towers are the most customizable.  You can change or add hard drives, add any kind of PCI card, and even have engraving done to the aluminum case.

Max out the RAM as well.

  4. Take a hammer and beat it until it looks like a pile of sand. then buy a PC.

  5. hah! you said customize a mac! good luck! Apple designs their products so that you can't customize them or add components internally. They really don't want you to. But you can still try. The only model that is built for customization is the iMac Pro tower.

  6. you can get an external hard drive and use time machine, which should be default on all new macs (otherwise you can download it). they cost about $200 and add like 20-30 new gigs, sometimes more.
