  1. From what I can make of what you have written you are fixing some molding around?.......is the molding a bull-nose style, or do you re-fare to the area you are looking to fit the molding a round corner.

Are you fitting this to a counter top or a chimney breast?

If it's a counter top that has its corner rounded and you want to fit a molding then there a few ways you can do it. First you fit the molding to the the unit by slicing through the back of the molding and removing wedges of wood, depending on the radius of the corner will depend on how many wedges and how deep they will need to be.

The other way is to use a glue lamination for several thin pieces of wood clamping them against the corner so they take that shape when they have dried.

  2. What I have done was to hold it up and then marking where my cit should be. The in the mitre saw I hold it as it will be fixed or use a strip of wood and some foam and clamp it to the guide. Then you line up and cut.
