but keep swapping sides....hey presto a dancing egyptian.  you could also make an authentic looking head dress from old bits of foil and toilet roll

  2. Depends on the Egyptian

You could dance like Tito Seif or Tanoura

Or you can break dance like they do worldwide.

  3. Well that depends on which type of dance you want to do.  First off there's Ancient Egyptian Dances, Pharonic (not ancient but trying to emulate it... poorly usually), and then there's Modern Dances.

Now Ancient Egyptian Dances would be hard to do since we don't know enough to truly recreate them.  The Ancient Egyptians had many types of dances as well, each performed differently.  So I couldn't really tell you how to dance like an Ancient Egyptian since no one alive has ever seen them and the records on them are inconclusive.  However if your interested in trying to recreate this type of dance I would highly recommend reading the following:

*Ancient Egyptian Dances by Irena Lexova

*Dances of Ancient Egypt by Elizabeth Artemis Mourat

*Dances of Ancient Egypt (Revised and Abridged) by Elizabeth Artemis Mourat

Pharonic dances come in three types.

    1. Dances that are an attempt to authentically recreate Ancient Egyptian dances by using recorded evidence both written and pictoral.

    2. Dances that do not recreate dances from evidence but rather exaggerate poses that are commonly thought to be Egyptian.  These exaggerated poses (like the one another answerer linked to) are not based in factual evidence in fact you will find no depictions in Egyptian tombs and reliefs that depict these sort of poses.  These are not truely Egyptian and are an old stupid stereotype that should be done away with.

    3. Dances that are modern dances done in Egyptian-esque costume and may or may not use Egyptian-esque music.  This includes dances like those done by Isadora Duncan as well as Bellydance done in Egyptian-esque Costume (Ancient Egyptian-esque costume that is)

Finally there are the Modern Egyptian Dances which for women includes Bellydance (or more properly raqs sharki).  There are many styles both "modern" and Folkloric.  Such as raqs al-Shamadan (Candelabra Dance), raqs al-asayya (Cane Dance),  raqs al-Shaabi (Shaabi Dance.. kind of like country/redneck equivalent of the bellydance world), raqs al-balad (also called Beladi meaning homeland/counrty dance), melaya leff, ect...

For men they have their own versions of bellydance which is more masculine and involves more sharp, strong, defined movements than the womens version.  They also have raqs al-tahtib (Stick dance) in which the men jump, hop and twirl sticks, they generally perform a sort of mock battle with the sticks and it was originally a combat sort of dance used to improve combat.

Now if you want to get more specific about what your looking for I'll be more than happy to get more specifc about how you do that type of dance.
