How do you de-flower Extra Virgin Olive Oil?

  1. This should really be in the food section but since i am a well educated food guy /chef-type

    and a Greek -American I am more than qualified to answer  your Q

    The first thing that need to do is to empirically determine that it is in fact EVO by actually tasting and smelling it and to some extent looking at it

    If it is indeed EVO then the rules of cooking with EVO apply

    The first rule is that you DON'T  cook with EVO b/c heat destroys all the subtle nuances of flavor  and aroma

    My next step in the process would be to apply the K.I.S.S. and G.I.G.O. philosophies to my final product

    To deflower EVO

    Buy some   very ripe Beefsteak  tomatoes at a farm-stand>allow them to get to room temp

    Cut into half rounds

    Get some freshly made mozzarella

    Cut into rounds

    On an oval plate alternate tomato and cheese slices

    Using a really sharp knife cut fresh basil chiffonade

    Scatter over tomatoes & cheese

    Drizzle with the EVO

    Eat
