What's the best way to deal with them without being overbearing? We don't want to run her off, but want her to be a bit more thorough. Thank you.

  1. Have a talk with them and let them know what you want done. You are paying for their service, so let them know what you are not happy with.

  2. Back when I use to clean for someone, if they wanted me to do extra or wanted more out of me, they would just write me a note and tell me exactly what they wanted extra for that day.  It worked and it kept our communication open.  So, maybe just a note to let them know what you need might not make them feel your being overbearing.  Just be nice when writing it.

  3. Leave a note on the kitchen counter. Also it depends on how much you are paying her, you may want to add a little more cash...

  4. Just be straightforward.  Let her know that the quality of her work has declined and her job is riding on it.  There are many others out there that would be thankful for the opportunity to work.  Make it plain what your expectations are.

  5. How about giving her a condition that if she does her job thoroughly, you'd give her a compensation. But always keep an eye, have hidden nanny cameras inside the house http://www.video-surveillance-guide.com/...

  6. I have needed to call mine on that issue a couple of times.  I just tell her that things on the list were not completed.  When she returns, I show her---white glove test.  If it ain't clean, it wasn't cleaned.  Pretty much that simple.  Tell her what you expect and ask her if she is able to complete the task.  If she says yes, then Ok, but if she isn't sure, find someone else.
