My roommate is the most negative person I have ever met in my life. Like this evening when I told him about one of my friends was wanting to take me out to the clubs to meet more people since I am really shy, he thinks clubs are bad. It seems like every possible place I mention to him about wanting to make more friends at he is against.

He just thinks everything is bad. Sometimes I wonder how much longer I can stand living with him.

  1. Oh man, at least you can end the relationship in a short time.

My husband is like that!  (not the club thing, but the whole negativity thing)  Divorce isn't my first choice, you know.

  2. I say introduce him to Jack Daniels or tequila to get that bug out of his ****. Seriously, maybe that will change his negativity. And when he is drunk show him how things can be so good. He really needs to loosen up.

  3. maybe he wants to be friends with you, and he thinks that if you go out and make new friends at clubs you won't want to be friends with him.

  4. He probably wants you to hang around with him and doesn't want to sound pathetic to say so.  Next time when he says one of these things say "Oh it is a shame you feel that way, I was going to see if you wanted to come along." and see what he says.  He may change his tune right away.  In either case, just ignore his negative comments, keep being friendly, and do whatever you gotta do.

  5. For every bad thing he points out, you give him a good one.  Your positive mood will out rule his negative any day.  Maybe he will get the drift how negative he really is.   If he doesn't or you dont feel like counteracting him all the time then dont say anything when he says stuff.  Ignore it and walk out of the room.  This will make your point and make him realize there will be a negative response(walking out of the room) for when he says negative things.  Wish you best of luck  because it is  hard to change people.

  6. Move out.  That's the only good option you have.
