How do you deal with aggressive drivers?

They tailgate you, they run you off the road, they pull up next to you threatening you. I've slowed down, sped up then slowed down, continued the same speed, jammed on my brakes, but they all seem dangerous if you get the right psycho. What to do?

I've decided that the safest thing to do with an aggressive, high-speed tailgater is just stay in the same place (unless of course I was in the left lane because then I would be in the wrong). They are probably very stupid or on the phone and you don't want to tax their tiny minds by moving around so they try to anticipate what you are going to do. If you change lanes to let them pass, not only might they fail to see or understand your turn signal and try to pass you on that same side at the same time, there is also a risk that they will be so hysterically eager to pass you that they will clip your rear because you aren't getting over fast enough. Then, to make passing you the most attractive option WITHOUT stepping on the brakes which could cause them to run into you/wig out, just very gradually take your foot off the gas. Most of the time they will just go around you and not even bother getting road-ragey. When this happens I feel that I won because they were the ones who were "inconvenienced", and I didn't reinforce their behavior by acting intimidated, but I also didn't directly engage them because it would be SO not worth getting in an accident or dying over.

i don't deal with them i stay away from them.....if someone is really aggressive and wreckless i will get their tag number and report them....usually when I feel like their driving is endangering others....but for the most part I just stay away from the best way that I can just to avoid an accident...

If they tail-gate me, I slam on the brakes.

Anything else, you can flip them off or pretend to write down thier license plate number.  That always scares them !

Best thing to do is let them go and slow down so they can be very far from you.  You really want to drive next to a psycho?  Let him go!!

is another idea. Inform police get tag #.

slow down enough that they fly by me. if they threaten me, I'll pull aside so I can get their plate number, then call 911 and follow them until the police arrive.
