  1. I have been to mountain warfare training in Korea, and done climbing on my own.  I've never had to deal with blisters onteh hands.  My reate of descent, and ascent has always been of teh controlled variety.  Even when bounding down the rock face I have not run into issues.  You might want to relax your grip, on the line or just practice better technique.

Once you have blisters, thebest thing you can do is leave them intact since they are not going to allow infection to set in.  The fluid wil absorb back into your body, and eventually they will be ready to slough off on their own.  Just protect them until then and you will be fine.

  2. To prevent the blisters you will want to concentrate on what you are doing with your hands as you climb. When you grip a hold:

1st: only put enough preasure to keep yourself on the hold. Dont try to squeeze the life out of the hold. This causes more friction on the hand and wastes energy.

2nd: when you place your hand on the hold, dont move it. Beginning climbers move their hand around on the hold after they grip it. This movement creates friction as well.

When you put both together, the friction created by grabbing the hold and shifting your grip around together will cause blisters very quickly.

Using proper grip technique will prevent blisters from occuring and allow your current blisters to heal. Though having a good set of calluses is a climbers friend.

  3. wear gloves duh

  4. ...  You don't want the "blisters" to disappear. You want to build them up so you can climb harder. These blisters turn into calusses which you MUST have if you want to climb on a daily basis.

You sound like you're new to the climbing scene, do not go into an indoor gym and climb with gloves on. Trust me. You will get nothing but sh*t for it.

If you really want something to make them hurt less, try a product called "Climb On" it's a balm that does not get rid of the blisters, but it will make them feel better, and you won't lose your built up caluss.

This is available at any REI.

  5. First "Harden up"- pain is all part of this wonderful sport.  Two, you could tape up your hot points(where you usually get blisters) by taping to prevent blisters. If you're going to tape your hands make sure you use nail polish-not joking.  It helps  to stick onto your skin even if you sweat or get wet.  You can do the same on your feet.

And if your blister gets bad put some white spirit(this will hurt!!) to help clean, dry and rebuild your skin for a quick recovery while you're in the hills.

    Happy climbing mate

Remember to keep rolling your DICE!!

  6. Try wearing gloves, if you already don't.

    You could also try lotion?

  7. I suggest using some type of gloves to prevent them and there are a lot of different thing to get rid of them, although I'm not exaclty sure what there names are.

  8. lotion
