I own a copy of Star Wars Republic Commando. It's been running fine on my box running XP for a while. I recently bought a new computer and switched to Vista. In addition, i purchased a new graphics card (VisionTek ATI Radeon HD 4850). Now, when i installed the game, it took me to the menu and was running fine. I customized the settings to level that my card to could maintain, and clicked new game. WHen the scene loaded, the game crashed. I tried it at the lowest possible graphics setting and it worked fine. But when i upped it even a little bit, i experienced the same crash. I wonder, is the problem in the OS, the graphics card, or the new shader model?

  1. When you switched to Vista, you changed everything you have and use. Most things, including printers, scanners, and games, will not run on Vista, unless they say that specifically. You will probably not get any of your older games to run on this cobbled-up mess called Vista.

  2. if the game isn't certified to work with Vista, thats the problem.  There are many old applications that just won't work with Vista and you need to purchase a game that is certified to work with Vista..../

  3. first u must know is in vista .. more memory needed for some application, include VGA, RAM

and i think try to update your ATI VGA driver, come to www.ati.com

and  try to install it ..

it's my suggestion for you ...
