How do you deal with mean/annoying newspaper sales people

How do you deal with them if they stay at your door for long periods of time until you answer or they make personal comments to put you down...

Tell them your busy , you have to get back to cleaning your guns

Ask them to leave, close your door on them, and then if they stay and bother you you call the police.  I actually had this same thing happen with magazine salesmen the other day.  And they didn't stick around after the insults, but I called the police anyway.  Many communities require people going door to door to have a license for that purpose.  The police will take a person's license away if they begin getting complaints about them.  And even if there is no license required, they still are not allowed to show up on your doorstep and harass you.
