Question:

How do you deal with obsessions?

There is something that I constantly think about, it's come to the point where it's mostly all I think about, from the time I wake up, to right before bed. I talk about it with people sometimes, and even they notice that I think about it way more than I should, and sound addicted or obsessed. It's something stupid, and a bit embarassing to say here, so can you give me tips on how to deal with obsessions in general?

  1. I just give in to mine.  I LOVE history -- especially aviation, politics and s*x.  I don't have many friends -- most are scattered across the planet.  I'm great at air museums.  A real bore.

  2. The more you talk about it, the more you are feeding the obsession, the best thing to do is not talk about it and just accept that you are going to think about it, which will eventually make you realise that it's not that important, and you will probably then naturally start thinking about it less.

    Hope this makes sense...

  3. I know exactly what your talking about. I know its easier said than done, but try to think about something else. Something you're interested in. Find someone you have something in common with...or act on your obsessions, that usually suffices me.
