Question:

How do you deal with seasonal depression?

Every year from beginning of fall until spring I get mild seasonal depression. I know it's common...it's cold, it's dark, and you're stuck inside. This year I feel like I'm going to be more bummed during the cold season because I just got out of a long-term relationship.

It's certainly not any kind of suicidal-depression that requires medical attention, just sort of being "down in the dumps." How do you deal? What cheers you up?

  1. honestly i m in same position like you. but believe me or not nothing is more important than my health. breaking up from long term relation does hurt but think this way maybe it happened for good reason. and depresson depression holding you back because you thinking a lot. get busy with your hobbies, which makes u feel good. now this days lot of people talking about seasonal depression, i really dont get why people thinks so much.it is a mother nature we been through since the day we born.if your mood gets change do some walk or get into activites .dont think this as a depression. make your life more normal by thinking simple. sometimes its good to adopt on every environment. good luck

  2. Maybe get a light therapy box. I think they run a couple of hundred dollars..but totally worth it for seasonal depression. You sit in front of the box, and it truly does help with depression.

Getting out of the house to do SOMETHING. yoga, pottery, dance, gym, sauna, book stores, coffee shops.

  3. I'm depressed all year long, but usually it gets worse in the summer for me. I don't really have an answer for you, but I'd recommend getting outside and doing things. Have a good fall &winter

  4. I'd say getting outside and doing anything from exercise to shopping. Anything that can get those endorphins running hard.

I'm worried because you say you're stuck inside, if you have to jog in place or do push-ups, h**l, go right ahead.

Just try to do things for multiple reasons.

    1. To get active and get endorphins running through you.

    2. To get the depression off your mind and remind yourself why you're who you are, to live life to it's greatest potential.

    3. Because you will not be held down by depression.

  5. antidepressants
