We are ask to put in request forms for days that we would like to have off. I put in request in order to go to the dentist I had four fillings I was getting done in one day.. I was put on the schedule to work. I decided to just get one done since I was going to have to go to work. I then put in to work Saturday during the day so I could pack for vacation that night and leave early in the morning on Sunday This also was ignored and now I am working the late shift. I do not ask for much off but I am suppose to get 7 personal days and 3 weeks vacation. When I put in for the days...so far everything I want is ignored. I am suppose to get a notice when the dates chosen is denied. This does not happen..What really bugs me is that some employees get both weekends with thier vacation, while others do not...This is a horrible place to work because there is so much favoritism. Any advice would be helpful...I just hate feeling like a doormat.. I am a good employee. I do my job. and I do not miss any time from work..I have given notice because of being talk down to...I was ask to stay and I just said that it was a combination of things as to why I left notice as to avoid the real reason. Everything got better, but now its right back to the same old thing..Managment has made comments that are not favorable to me in front of my customers. Some of the customers have come to my defense in front of them...Telling management what a great person I am...Why are they doing this?? I have an idea but would like your opinion...

  1. I think it is time you started looking for a position elsewhere.  Working in a company where favoritism is the rule is definitely not for you.  Start looking around, but don't quit your job until you have a new one to which to go.

  2. I was a Manager for 30+ yrs and my first impulse is I'm not hearing the full story. Sounds like something else is going on and your not being straight up with your question. Having said this, I have a couple comments. In a successful business both boss and employee have responsibilities. The boss needs to provide feedback to you, both good and constructive. He / She need to let you know where you stand and what parts of your performance need improvement. Your part is to ask for this feedback if you are not getting it. Don't sit, wait, and complain if you don't receive feedback. Make something happen. The issue of time off also leaves me wanting for additional info. Somewhere there is a "Why" associated with not getting the time off you request. Are the days already taken by someone else? Is there a seniority issue here? Something is missing. Bottom line, step back and take a third party view of the issues. If you can't get a handle on it, ASK. Its to the benefit of companies to treat their employees fairly as Win- Win solutions are where its at.

  3. Start calling in sick when you need the day off. They will get the message, that is not the way to run a business. You'd fare better off leaving the company for a more understanding boss. How sickening.

  4. I'd put a whoopee cushion on their chair...

  5. At some point you have to stand up for yourself.  Decide what you will say and set down iwth you boss and just say it.  Try to leave emotions out of it.  Lay out the facts and ask for a fair shake.  If things don not change..quit.  But not without letting HR and you bosses boss know why.

  6. Every job has it's environment like this, and here's the deal...

    Quit.

You gave your notice, then recanted, telling your boss that if "their" behavior improves you will stay.  What kind of ultimatum is that?  Better sit back and ask yourself if you are that valuable to present such a position to your boss.  Chances are, they got tired of kissing your butt and just did what they wanted.

No matter what you may think about this being intentional, maybe a little, but not really. Sorry, employees are not usually given that amount of respect in a corporation, managers have other things to think about than just you.

I am sure you feel that you do a great job, and maybe you do, it's not for me to decide that. Just remember, when you quit, make sure that your unused vacation is available for cashout.

  7. I dont fight with coworkers or managers, on my way out I will tell them what happened. That's just me.

  8. Bottom line is you're not in (much) control of how employers treat you, and with politicians in corporate pockets, this situation is deteriorating rapidly for the working people.

So, check if you're in an "all party" state, or a "one party" state regarding recording conversations. Then, if you're in "one party" state, invest in a small MP3 player - one that also records conversation.

Also, invest in a journal, and meticulously document every requeset, every violation of policy that is used to harass you, while also making sure you record, covertly, all conversations with the management.

Every time they are demeaning to you, note JUST THE FACTS carefully in your journal. TELL NOBODY that you're recording - and archive all conversations carefully.

Do this for about 6 months and then take all materials to an attorney.

That's the "while your'e still there" part.

The real cure for this kind of c**p is to decide to move up in the world and then to do whatever it takes to make the jump to a position where you're not a peon.
