How do you deal with this? Re: Child visitation?

My ex wife does everything possible to attempt to keep me from seeing my daughter, I have a court ordered right of visitation every other weekend but if my ex is mad at me for something, she makes some excuse and doesn't let me see my daughter. Daughter is only 5 so does not have a say in it at this point. According to the law of our state, my ex can be charged with possible contempt of court if she does not comply, but she either doesnt know it, or doesnt care. I would like nothing better than to eventually get full custody of my daughter. What would you do? Well thought out answers only please. Thank you.

It seems that if my ex wants to switch weekends for her convenience it is okay, but if I ask the same consideration she refuses and says that I am a bad father because I don't see my daughter when I am supposed to.

look up malicious mother syndrome & document everything. have a police officer show up w/ you to pick the kid up, if you have it on paper, you get her. then file paper work to make her be nice :)

You will have to go back to court and show proof that she is not following the court order.  Also, just because SHE does this doesn't mean that you have the right to not uphold the court order on your part.  Make sure that you show up when you are supposed to, bring your daughter back on time, make timely support payments, etc.

It stinks, but that's the was it is.

Good for you for wanting to be a single dad. I am one also and had to fight for full custody of my daughter. You can win but it is a fight and takes time ( for me, almost 3 years ) but it can be done. I don't know what state your in, but contact the Attorney Generals office and file a complaint ASAP. Also, keep a notebook of all the times this has happened for proof. I took it one step further and recorded all my conversations with my ex for proof. They probably won't throw her in jail but will threaten to and that may be enough to scare her into line. Just whatever you do, DON'T GIVE UP!!! If you need more info please write me. Good Luck.
