How do you deal with your family member who is on crack?

you cant really do anything they have to make the decision to change themself. im not sure you mean in what way to deal with them. my mother was an addict and was using my entire life until i was 15 she made the decision to change her life and go to a treatment center. she was always off and on in the program (NA Narcotics anonymous) maybe you should suggest this family member start going to meetings and you should go to an al-anon meeting which really helps people deal with family members who are addicts. there are many just look up the locations online and they are really helpful no doubt

Tough love. You have to encourage them to get help, but if they do not - you cannot enable their habit in any way.  Eventually, you may have to cut ties until they get themselves into rehab.  Good luck.

Unfortunately, crack is one of those drugs that won't even allow a person to look up from the gutter... it literally becomes the air they breathe and the food they eat... everything.

An addict (not just crack) will lie, cheat and steal anything from anyone just to keep the next "fix" coming. I am not kidding. You can't trust a thing they say.

All you can do is carefully lock up any pawnable valuables, put deadbolt locks on your bedroom doors, and preferably kick the crack-head out if he will not allow an intervention <we're talking institutionalization here>.

Been there, (brother) Sorry to tell you it was a long  hard road . Its really hard to get help,We tried everywhere. The person becomes someone you don't even recognize. It does have a happy ending but it took a few years to get there and alot of will power from both sides.Plus a divorce, bankruptcy and rehab three times. CA(cocaine anonymous)really helped but the person has  to want help. Good luck!!
