Question:

How do you deal with your panic attacks?

I was wondering what methods people use to cope with their panic attacks. I have been having more than usual panic attacks lately, and my old methods of coping aren't working like they use to. I can't take medicine for them because the medicine makes them worst, I am just curious, maybe someone has better ideas than I do.

  1. I used to have panic attacks all the time, so I feel your pain. The only non-medicine thing that would work for me was to go outside and run. Yes, it sounds strange, but it felt so good. I would especially get them in enclosed places or while driving on the highway. I'd have to pull over and literally run up the road a bit until I felt better. Make sure you avoid caffiene and sugar as those could aggravate your anxiety.

  2. yEAH PANiCK ATTACKS ARENT FUN,WHAT i WOULD DO iS SiT DOWN iN A NiCE SiLENT ROOM,AND THiNK TO yUR SELF,AND TELL UR SELF EVERyTHiNGS GOiNG TO BE OKAy AND yOUR YUR SELF,iTS ALL iN yUR MIND.

  3. Try to get out of your house and go to a peaceful place like a park and observe nature and the pace of it... that will relax you! Locking up in your room will be worst, then you will start having loneliness issues so try to get out of the house and observe others...

  5. I seem to hyperventilate some during a panic attack. So I guess the big thing for me is actually reminding my self to take slow deep breaths.

  6. Hi I'm Chris, I used to have terrible panic attacks that would keep me home in my room all day crying. They ended pretty much completely about a year ago. Medicine works just fine for me. Maybe you need to try upgrading medicine and try to stay out of stress situations. The important thing is to realize that you are ok no matter what and that nothing can hurt you. One thing that always always always works is working out and running. Trust me on that one. It always works. Also try and bring a stress ball around with you. It may seem weird but it works

  7. try focusing on happy incident or start counting. it will stop in few seconds and eventually you will feel better.

  8. Well i have SEVERE anxiety and panic attacks whenever im far away from home. I always have to get home. breathing doesnt always help me because i seem to hold my breath without knowing it during a panick attack. Ive had them for 4 years and im on 30 MGS of prozac. I suggest getting out to different places with different people, and having fun,Definitally getting a STEADY and good amount of sleep especially with an anxiety disorder because people that suffer from panic attacks often have adrenalen that is always running which means you have no way of slowing it down therefore you need more sleep than others. Try to meditate. it helps me big time. Breathing and Yoga. Anything relaxing. Whatever relaxes you,for me its being alone, for you maybe its something else. Anything you love doing peacefully. Anxiety has become the biggest hardship in my life, and im GOING  to get over it

    and so will you!:D

  9. I tried the program found in a book called The Mood Cure and also Radiant Recovery and a combination of the 2 programs changed my life. Look into it.

I've been panic free every since.

Also, my anxiety symptoms (racing heart, dizziness, blurry vision, shakiness) were related to anemia and hypoglycemia.
