How do you decide how long a child's snowboard needs to be?

I understand that the child's weight and height are considered. Perhaps their level of experience matters too? (Mine are beginners, but with pretty good strength and coordination.)

Is there a formula?

A web site?

I don't want to take them to a sporting goods store and just let them tell us what they need. We can't afford that. We are only looking at second hand equipment. It also doesn't have to be a perfect match. It would be nice to be able to use the stuff for a couple years; maybe buy new boots if the bindings can adjust a few sizes.

  1. it goes to their chin, if you stand it up to measure their height.

it should be able to come up and they rest their chin on it!

I've heard this many times, and I live in the state that has "the greatest snow on earth"

good luck! ~I think the sporting goods store can help you out a lot. They know best! have fun~

  2. height between noise and neck (middle of neck) longer = easier shorter is lighter

  3. go on www.wiredsport.com/snowfacts.htm You email them with sort of snowboarding you do, height, weight etc and they tell you best size

  4. The board should come up about to their chin. It can be a little bit longer and this will give them a little bit more stability. as long as it is around that length though it won't make much of a difference.
