  1. If you actually like the father, use his name. If you don't want anything to do with him, don't.

  2. It wasn't an option in my mind. The birth certificate is a legal document. Even if you don't get along with the father he still has the right to be on it.

  3. No matter of the relationship between the two of you for furture reference the fathers name should always be there no matter what.

  4. In some states, if you are not married to the baby daddy they will not allow his name to go on their until paternity is established.  I think it would serve you will to jump through the hoops because you may want to collect child support later on!

  5. let me see if i understand your question.   If the father is not going to be in your child's life then dont put it, my "father" left b4 i was even born, and my mother used to be like in love with him so she gave me her name and his in hopes that he'd come back or something, now ive got two last names and its really annoying because hes NOT my dad, so dont do it, its useless

  6. Its really up to the father.  When I had my son the father was not in the picture.  I gave the baby my last name but I did call the father to see if he will come sign the birth cert. so that way the father is known.  He did not show up and my son's birth certificate has only my name and the father is blank.  Go with your heart, a child does NOT need a father, there are so many other people that can replace that hole.

  7. When you want to be an adult and give your child a complete identity of who his/her parents are.

Birth certificates are not about the mother they are about the CHILD!  Stop being so selfish.

  8. When you are a human being and want your child to feel the same way.

  9. if you have a good relationship with the father then it should be on there. i have my bfs name on my daughters because wether i like it or not he's the dad and he has every right to be ne there

  10. i believe you should put his name on thier... even as the child gets older, he needs to have record of who his family is... even if the dad is deadbeat.

I didn't put my 1st sons fathers name one there b/c i wasn't sure of the paternity... but i know now thru testing and i need to go back and add it.

definatly put his name down, reguardless of any anger ... your baby would like to know his identity someday.

  11. Your child has every right to have an honest history of his/her life, beginning from day one.

Even if dad never spends a minute with her (either because of his own immaturity & irresponsibility, because of bending to societal expectations, or because you push him out of the child's life), the reality of your child's conception is still something to be grateful for & to honor.  Something that your child should not be lied to about or be ashamed of.

  12. I seriously dont get that - even if your not with the father, he still is the father. Even if he doesnt want anything to do with the baby, its still the babys right when they get older to look for their biological father and maybe have a relationship with them. Not only that, but what would happen if the child gets older and needs to know about their heireditary medical history or something of the like and your not around?

If you dont put it on there, whats the other option? To put "unknown" and sound like a s!ut for anyone thats going to come across their birth certificate?

  13. Even if i was not with the father or whatever i would still give the child his/her fathers last name because that is what he or she is...This is why some people end up with their own kin people when people name their kids their maiden names and not the fathers......They will not know who they are kin too...If they go by your last name and not his.

I would put his name on there if it were me but this is me talking.......
