I'm not asking how one comes to that conclusion, but what you think the ingredients for a good life are.

  1. Lots of love, lots of laughs, and lots of good wine.

  2. Complacency, the ability to adapt and remain happy despite external events.  The point of life is to be happy.  But what makes us happy (events, status, good career) and what just satisfies temporary lusts? (s*x, drugs)

    there is a difference

Do things that make you happy that do not come w/ a consequence (addiction, mental corruption)

Personally, I believe the desire for knowledge can be a lust as wrll (Im a hypocrite for sayin this though).  ignorance is bliss, but to an extent.  Someones got to run society ya know.  Just dont take life too seriously ;)

  3. Getting your own wikipedia page without doing something illegal, like murder

  4. "If you can look back on your life and say with all honesty that while not everything was perfect you have no regrets that is the good, nay the perfect life."

flamesof.wrath the first ever internet philosopher

  5. When I was 19, I thought the good life was having a boyfriend, having a good time, partying, having nice clothes.

Now that I am 51, it is much different.  I would say:

    being free of pain

accepting yourself the way you are but always being ready to learn and improve

having the ability to laugh at yourself and life

  6. Being at a private pool with your love on a hot day with a nice cooler of Ice'd Lemon tea.

  7. its good

  8. Having good health, good friends, and a great family.

  9. At the very least I define a good life based on the lower two echelons of Maslows heirarchy of needs: safety and physiological.  Though I come an industrialized first world country from an upper middle class background I use the third world as the yard-stick to which I can judge the quality of my own life.  Unlike many third world people I dont have to worry about food, clean water, lack of work, war, disease etc and as such I feel that I am pretty lucky and that I have a good life.  As important as love/belonging, esteem and self actualization is to people who have a solid basis for human survival, I feel that such things are luxury items within the realm of human existence.

  10. Accepting yourself for who you are.

    Being able to discern.

Putting God at the top of your pyramid.

Being honest with yourself and others.

When these ingredients are mixed together, anything else which comes our way in life will freely flow together.

  11. I would define a good life this way:-   having freedom to choose what you do with your time, the good health to enjoy your time fully.   Having opportunity to prosper and the friends/family you can trust around you for support and enjoyment.   Of course included is a roof over the head, an adequate income, fresh water, food and air.
