How do you delete standard applications for the itouch?

i recently bought a new macbook pro and with it came a free itouch. although when i plugged it in i only had 438mbs left for music and the rest was taken up by what i asume is the other applications is there a way to remove those apps to allow for more music?

Are the apps like calculator and weather?

    -if so, you cant easily. But they take up less than a gig

Are they in the apps program (v2.0)?

    -if so plug it in, go into the folder, delete the apps you dont want.

But there shouldn't be just 1/2 gigs on it when you buy it... Are you mistaken?
