How do you desolder?

i am removing some wirers from my guitar.

Use a soldering iron.... turn it on, and the tip heats up... apply the heated tip to the desired soldered terminal, and it will melt, allowing you to pull the wire out.  Some wires may be looped thru a terminal for extra strength, so a pair of needle nose pliers may come in handy.  Naturally, don't touch the hot solder with your bare fingers, lol  Use a desoldering wick to help soak up the old solder, and a cleaner to finish it up

A micro torch would be another way to melt the solder, but a soldering iron would be the safest, especially since you are working in a guitar.. you dont want to ruin the finish on it.

You can but a 'stick' version or pistol grip version of soldering irons.... often for less than 10 bucks.

get a desoldering tip at radioshack along with desoldering wick and rosin flux cleaner , you warm up the joint with the soldering iron and wick up the melted solder, then spray the freed joint to disolve the old rosin flux.

Most of the small electronic stores or even the hardware store carry an item call solder-wick. it usually is a very small roll of interweaved copper threads and how you use it is by taking the ssolder-wick, placing on the wire you are removing and apply heat using a solder - gun.
