How do you deter having flies in the house?

There will be none and then all of a sudden there will be like 10 that show up in one day?! What can I do? I run around with a flyswatter swatting them but how can I prevent them from coming in the house in the first place?

Several things may help,,, but flies tend to fly.

Make sure your outside garbage cans are far away from the door.

If you have outside pets and feed them outside,, feed them away from.

Basically keep any source of decomposing food away from your doors.

Keep you indoor trash can covered and clean, if you have a sink type disposal use it food products.

Keep your sink empty, plates with food debris is like a buffet to flies.

Keep your counters clean.

Keep fruits and any other food left out covered.

If you have screens make sure they have no holes or are coming loose along the edges.

Take the garbage out often.

Do not leave fruit in the open. Put it in the refrigerator.

Keep your counter tops clean

Sugar, syrup and juices with sugar should be securely covered and placed in the refrigerator or in a cool dry place.

Keep screens in your windows in good repair

Do not leave your doors or window open without screens

Keep an insecticide handy (I like Raid).

I have the same problem. I have no solution. Instead of using a fly swatter, I use the vacuum with the hose attachment to suck them up.
