i used to shop at just holliser, abercrombie, american eagle, and aeropostale but now i want to expand my style. like, i'm so sick of wearing the same shirt as everyone else. it's so unoriginal. but because i've been shopping there for two years, i feel like it's sucked away all of my style. so where should i shop? what should i buy?

  1. You sound like me. I shopped there in middle school, but once I reached high school, every other girl was wearing the same shirt. I started branching out by going into other stores that I would just go by earlier. Next time you go shopping, take a chance; if you see something interesting in the window, go into the store, you never know! As for developing a style, it's just trial and error at first. Once you find something different that you like, try to find other things like it. You don't have to confine yourself to just mall stores either. Broaden your horizons. Even stores like Kohl's or JC Penny could have something you like, you might have to just look a little bit harder. My personal favorite stores are Urban Outfitters, J Crew, American Apparel, Banana Republic, and Gap. They may sound ordinary, but it's the way you combine pieces to make outfits that make it different. For example, an ordinary white t-shirt underneath patterned cardigan, paired with a great pair of straight leg jeans and a pair of tall boots to top it off. As for what pieces to buy, go for basics, than build. Look for inspiration in fashion magazines, such as Vogue or Elle (my favorites) for current runway look that you could translate to your own life. But remember, too many trends at once = fashion victim. If you want to add interest to a boring outfit without spending much money, spice it up with accessories. Forever 21 actually has nice and funky ones for quite cheap. It's been four years since I shopped Hollister, Aeropostale, etc, and it feels great to be a bit different. It makes you seem more interesting. Good luck!

  2. HOT OPIC!!!WHOOOO!!!!!!!!!!

  3. i know this is random but go to Kohls and shop for clothes that

are you and no one else

i went there a couple of days ago and i found stuff

that looked like it was from hollister

    and it was really cute

im like you i were what every one else does but now im me in a hotter way

  4. If there is an H&M store near you, i suggest you visit it. It has an array of styles in wild prints and colors, and well as subtle designs- and it's NOT what the whole world is wearing, promise. A a bonus, everything isn't too too expensive, so you can buy lots of it. =]

  5. i ran into your situation awhile ago, but ive recovered ;) haha

well i would just wander around your mall and go into stores that NOBODY else does. the key is to get people to go "dude! where'd you get that _____?!"

and be like "ohh.. just a little store at the mall..."

also, clear your brain and start new when you walk into a store. try on a couple things that you would NEVER wear, just to see them on you. i've found a couple of my favorite shirts that way. but mostly just try stuff on that YOU would wear that show your personality :)

    hope i could help!

  6. your last two questions are backwards...

You should buy what you like, what fits, and what YOU look good in...

Where should you shop?  Where you can find the previous answer..

It might be the places you shop now..and it might be Sears or JC Penny...... or it might be Wal-Mart.... most likely it will be all of them...

For instance, I only wear Wrangler jeans, the pro models they only sell in Western Wear Stores, but I buy tshirts at Pennys or Sears, whoever has the color I like......

Your style is what you like, and what you look good in.....

  7. congrats for breaking out of the mold. style is a very strange thing, it can be bad and good at the same time. when someone has true style, they follow the trends while mixing in their own personal touches. it's about being unique and wearing what you like. here are some of this season's trends to get you started:

    1. tartan prints. you know, checks, plaid? maybe you could buy a blazer to layer over your clothes or a tennis skirt in tartan. you have to be careful not to look like a schoolgirl with the skirt and a car salesman with the blazer though.

    2. black. this one's so easy, girl. black lace is also in. i'm sure you can find something.

    3. animal prints. don't go overboard on this one. perhaps a printed tank to layer under your clothes. maybe earrings or a bangle? a few little touches of safari in your outfits will make it pop.

    4. tomato red. this is another big color this fall. whether you buy a small touch like a bag or accessory or an entire shirt or jacket, this will be great.

    5. tunics. make sure to try them on before you buy! the right size will probably look great but the wrong one...beware lol.

    6. skinny jeans. another warning: not everyone looks good in them!

    7. leggings or tights should be making a big appearance.

    8. funky, chunky jewelry like bangles, hoops, long necklaces, big antique rings.

    9. flats! not only are they comfy, but they look cute and come in a variety of colors and prints.

    10. hats! berets in particular will be making a huge splash on the scene.

there are other trends but i picked the ones which will be the most manageable for you. now that you know 10, you might be wondering where to get them. no worries.

    forever 21

    charlotte russe

    wet seal

    nordstrom

macy's (DIG HARD BUT YOU'LL FIND IT!)

    tj maxx (DIG!)

    marshall's (DIG!)

    target (DIG!)

    h&m

    urban outfitters

or try any store that you want to go into!

so now that you have all this information, there are a few final tips i must give you.

    1. mix and match wardrobe pieces to create stylish outfits.

    2. don't overtrend, you don't have to follow all the rules.

    3. if you like something, wear it. if you don't, then don't! it's that simple!

    4. don't forget to put on nice makeup and do your hair, or your outfits will be ruined.

    5. be confident and you'll be able to wear anything!

  8. Ok, this is what I do. I shop everywhere! Even those stores that you mentioned. I just go to a store and if I see something I like..I buy it. Having just a style doesn't really define me because my taste is pretty broad. And sometimes I'm in the mood of wearing something, but the next day I feel like wearing something different. So I would say that my style is beach girl/bohemian/preppy/chic because I wear all different cute stuff from every store. I shop at: Old Navy, Gap, Forever 21, H & M, Aeropostale, Hollister, American Eagle, Pacsun, Marshalls, Ross, Target, even Walmart. Anything on sale is good on my book!

  9. You don't have to STOP shopping at those stores altogether. But my friends and I just usually go to Walmart or Garage or Lasenza Girl or even Winners! It's not exactly brand name, but you can get really nice stuff (cheaper too) and usually people will go, "Wow where did you get that?!" because all their stuff will have a label on it and ours, well, won't!

  10. when i got into middle school i said the same thing and then i started shopping at urban outfitters and fell in love with the vintage looks. you can find great clothes at any store even hollister and such but its how you wear it and the way you put the pieces together that makes a unique style. i cant tell you exactly what clothes to wear because i dont know your taste but you should go to vintage stores and take a few items that stand out and try to work with them.

  11. Well, what you should do is take some time to go to the mall. Look through all the different stores that catch your eye, see what things you like. Maybe check out what things are popular, theres usually similar jackets, pants and tops that follow trends.

Nobody can really tell you where to shop. Your style is supposed to be your own. But what you can do is look for stuff that appeals to you. What colours, cuts and stores do you like? Just ask yourself that. And just buy what you like. Don't worry that other people may not like it. They actually might like it.

  12. Upgrade.  Look at Banana Republic for classic pieces with a twist.  J Crew has some gorgeous sweaters this year.  Vow not to enter ANY of your former haunts.  Gap has some good basics, too.  Express would have trendier pieces with an edge.  Buy Elle and some other fashion mags aimed at older young women for ideas.  Try things on, and have fun.
