How do you dial international to another country?

i live in america and i want to call another country. i have never called international before at all not even w/ a calling card so this will be my 1st time. do i just start pressing the phn # i was given? do i use the # or the * buttons in anyway? i have a VOIP phone w/ international included.

  1. Dial 00 to get an international operator. You can then get the country code for what ever country you want to call. If the # you were given starts with a country code all you have to do is dial all the #"s that you were given.

  4. To dial another country you first need to dial the number for international connections [mine is 0011; you will need to check yours]

    You then dial the country code -- see the list of IDD Calling Codes on Wikipedia.  You need to know the country code of the country you want to call.

    You then dial the area code, leaving off any initial 0s.

    You then dial the number.

    For example, say my number here in Sydney is 5555 5555.  You would dial

    0011 61 [country: Australia] 2 [area code: Sydney] 5555 5555

    If my mobile was 0123 456 789 you would dial

    0011 61 [country: Australia] 123 [area code: dropping off initial 0] 456 789.
