the best and safer way is to install another antivirus [avast, avg, liveonecare, of these i know]. it will prompt you to uninstall norton, just say yes.

another way is trough control panel, programs [in vista] add/remove programs [in xp], and click on norton 360. but you shouldn't use the internet without an antivirus and a firewall

Norton is almost impossible to disable/uninstall, to do so you will have to let it expire and then seek advise from the official website on how to uninstall it. Meanwhile make sure you have a different antivirus of some sort installed.
