The fan will not shut off after the engine is turned off and the key is out of the ignition! It has been a half hour and it still hasn't shut off? Why is this happening and what do I do?

  1. Under the hood in the Power Distribution Box (right beside the battery) You should be able to pull the #4 fuse.  It is a 40 amp fuse.  That should keep the fan from running.  They are known for that problem.  Under the air cleaner box on the left frame rail there is a flat little box there.  That is the fan relay.  It should be tested, but that is most likely your problem.

  2. Look in the main fuse panel under the hood and remove either the fuse or relay related to the fan but the problem sounds like it could be a temperature sensor failer or a bad relay or faulty wire.

  3. Easiest thing to do is take the negative cable off your battery.  This also may reset the error that's causing your fan to stay on.  FYI... Write down your radio station's beforehand because they will be lost. ; }

  4. Common issue with NS body Vans, the transistorized relay mounted on the radiator support panel is likely faulty,. Check for diagnostic codes, in the PCM, then try disconnecting the fan relay.
