  1. Many communities now have hazardous materials drop off sites.  This means you can get rid of your stuff, and usually means if you need something, like say, acetone, you can get it cheap by going to the site and buying it for pennies on the dollar.  Try it, if you've got it.

  2. psh, hazardous material???  Its acetone... Just let it evaporate.  Pour it in a black pan and put it in the sun.  Put a cage around it so no wildlife go near it or something.

  3. Just leave it out to evaporate.  It will be broken down by either sunlight or other chemicals in the air.  If not, it'll come down in the rain or snow, and turn back into a gas really quickly, and will be broken down by, once again, sunlight or other chemicals.  During the time it's in the soil, micro-organisms can break it down.  It won't shouldn't harm them since it's not really that much.

Technically you can just pour it over some soil, and you will not be required to report it.  2 gallons of acetone weighs about 13 pounds, and the EPA  requires you to report spillage of more than 5000 pounds.  I wouldn't suggest pouring it in soil because it may be too much of a surge for micro-organisms, even though it won't stay in the soil for long.

  4. Do Not dump it on the ground!!!!!! please.  Evaporation is good or contact your city  admin and ask for day and times for hazmat disposal/ pick up.
