  1. in the sink or outside

  2. Absolutely do not put the grease down the drain.  Grease will clog your pipes.

Wait until it cools, then pour or spoon into a leftover can or bottle.  Put it out with your regular garbage.  I usually keep it in the fridge, and put it out on trash day.  When it's hot outside, use a container with a lid.  You don't want the grease all over the place in your garbage.

  3. I usually go outside and spill it somewhere, put it in an empty carton and put it in the trash (no leaks), and pour it down the drain while boiling hot water is running. The latter isn't the best, but it disposes of it!

  4. I save big mayo jars and spaghetti sauce jars.  When the oil has cooled, I pour it into the jars and dispose of it in the trash.  If it's a lot of oil that I've used, I always save the empty oil bottle and funnel the used oil (once it's cool) into a bottle then throw that away.

It pays to buy a big funnel.  Check dollar stores or an auto department or auto store for a large enough funnel for something like pouring a bunch of oil back into a bottle with a small opening.

For frying, I tend to use peanut oil which can be filtered (through paper towel) and re-used two or three times before it has to be tossed out.

  5. I cook alot, and it can be questionable on what to do with your old used oil, however I find that if you put it in an old "milk" jug of sorts, you can close it and throw in the dump.  It does take a little more time, but it is way better than dumping outside or in the sink.  "unless you like plumber bills"  Just let it cool, make or buy a cheap funnel, and pour into the milk or water jug.  Tighten lid good, and throw outside in your garbage can.  I usually wrap mine in 2 grocery bags, just so my can doesn't get all oily.  :)

  6. with the high prices of gasoline, you should strain it and pour it in your gas tank. There are kits online that you can buy for as little as $200 that will allow you to convert your car to use cooking oil.
