  1. Toss in the trash.

  2. i just throw them in the trash, that's how our water get contaminated, because we flush all types of the stuff in the toilet, It was serious issue on the news were people were getting sick because of contaminated water full of medicines.

  3. Do not flush them.  It enters the water supply and there is no effective way to remove them via traditional water treatment.  I found the following awhile back and it seems logical:

Keep the medication in the original container or bottle it came in. The reason to do this is so that if someone accidentally gets hold of the medication, medical personnel can discover what they took.

Mark out your name and your prescription number for confidentiality purposes and for safety. Someone might be able to get hold of your address, or try to illegally get a prescription filled with your information and the prescription number, especially if you had refills left on the prescription you are throwing away.

If you are throwing away pills, our pharmacist suggested pouring water or soda into the bottle so the pills will dissolve. I asked what to do if it was a liquid and he suggested putting cat liter in the bottle. I asked what you do if you have no cat litter. He suggested using cayenne pepper as no one would want to ingest a bottle of cayenne pepper. I am wondering if plain dirt would also do the trick.

The pharmacist suggested duct taping the bottle. I bought packing tape, which he said would also serve the same purpose. If someone is extremely desperate to get to the medication, putting duct tape on the bottle will deter them.

  4. flush the pills and peel off the labels of the persciptions.

throw labels in fire place or paper shredder than recycle box

  5. If pills I flush them down the toilet.

  6. the toilet is not the proper answer, dislove them and throw away in garbage or take to a pharmacy and see if they can dispose of them, recent studies have found increased pharmacueticals in ground water.

  7. take them to the pharmacist and he can help you

  8. Down the tolet, then take the label off the bottle and sered them

  9. If they are outdated or expired you are suppose to dispose of them in the toilet. Flush them down a toilet
