  2. To cue for a left lead, shift onto your right seatbone and bump with your right leg while at the same time shortening your right rein.  This cue is given when the right hind is about to hit the ground.  the horse will then pick up the left lead.  Now, to switch to the right lead, when the left hind foot is about to hit the ground, shift to your left seatbone and bump with your left leg, while at the same time shortening your left rein.  The horse's left hind will hit the ground, and the other legs will make the change, midair, so that when they come down, the right legs will be leading, or you will have made a flying change from the left to the right lead.

  3. if your on your right lead and you want to switch to your left by either changing directions or you were on the wrong lead and want to switch it to the correct lead, what your going to do is slightly shift your weight to the side that you want to be you next lead and put pressure with that calf. Then balance your horse with your inside or opposite reign and half halt slightly with the reign on the side your putting pressure on. A well trained horse will usually pick up a flying change if your doing a reversal because they can feel how they are unbalanced.

  5. It has been many years since I was an equestrian.  I recall you have to pull on one side of the reign and squeeze with the opposite leg mid way in a jump.  When you come off the rail, switch direction.  I'm not 100 percent sure, but that's what I remember.  The first time I tried, The horse and I fell.  Good luck.  I know it's tricky.
