Today I decided to try a front flip off a diving board and I landed on my back which hurts really bad. How do you do one without having to land on your back? I can't jump really jump high and you can only have one bounce per a jump at my pool, so how do you do one?

  1. Begin to flip your body while you are jumping and bring your knees into your body. This will alter your weight distribution, helping you flip. Also, try to sneak in a second or third jump when no ones looking!

  2. i used to dive competitively, and it took me a year to learn how to do a front somi (flip) because i always landed on my back whenever i tried so then i became hesitant to do them. once i got the feel for them, they became the easiest thing in the world to do

when you jump, you want to make sure that you jump straight up and not out (this was part of my problem). make sure that you use your arms and as you jump reach straight up with them as if you were touch the sky. as soon as you reach up, you need to throw your arms forward as fast as you can to start the rotation. as youre doing this, bring your knees up to your chest and grab on to your shins. stay in as tight a ball as possible while you rotate. when in doubt, dont worry about kicking out of your tuck and just land the dive as if you are doing a canon ball. once you are comfortable, you will be able to tell when it is time to kick out, and my coach just told us that when we kick out to think of it as standing up out of a chair.

out of all this, i would say the most important part is how fast you throw your arms forward because it controls how fast you will spin.
