How do you do pole bending?

Question

I want to teach my mare how to do it. Someone from my dads work is going to help me teach her how to neck rein, and told me how to make the poles. And she will also be helping me teach her. But does any one have tips on how to do it?

And i would also like to enter the fair next year. Just a county one. But what happens if you win?

suggest learning the basics and then walking through the course.

then trotting through the course.

gradually working up your speed as the horse learns the course.

i guess you get a blue ribbon.

I love pole bending! Its like, the best ever! If you want to see what it is I would go to youtube and find some videos of it. As for tips, train your mare to be really supple and really good at lead changes. Get her to change her lead before going around each pole, do lots of bending exercises, and dont always go at-speed! Work slowly! Have fun. :D

You start with cones and weave in and out of a serpentine

then after going this at a walk trot and canter with sucsess

after this start moving the cones closer together and getting better at it

DON'T RUSH IT, this takes time

once you have gotten good with cones move to poles and start at the walk and then the trot. the poles should be treated like the cones had been. take your time !
