  1. Look out for a suitable parking space.

Check your side mirrors and look in front of you and behind before you start reversing.

Look out for other vehicles approaching or pedestrians crossing the road or parking space.

Begin to reverse when it is safe.

Reverse until the front of your car is just about at either the rear or front bumper of the car next to you.

    Straighten up your steering wheel.

You may need to go backwards and forwards a couple of times until you are a reasonable distance from the car in front and any other cars behind you.

Apply the handbrake, put the gear into neutral or park and turn off the engine..................................

  2. If you are approaching an empty parking space, let's say, on your RIGHT (passenger side), stay about a car's width out from the other cars, signal right, look around several times in any parking lot,  and line up the rear bumper of your car half way along the rear bumper of the car ahead of your space.

Shift to Reverse gear which puts on the white lights (backup lights) at the rear of your car.

Ride your brake, allowing your car to move back slightly, and then steer quickly and fully to the RIGHT, which is where you want the back of your car to go.

Check your right and left shoulders and side mirrors to make sure you aren't too close to the other cars. If you are, then simply shift to Drive and move ahead while steering LEFT, then shift back to Reverse and continue.

If it's working for you then continue moving slowly back with your steering turned fully RIGHT until your car is straight.

Then move back a bit more and straighten your wheels.

Always ride that brake when close to other vehicles and objects.

I would suggest that you practice backing in both to the RIGHT and to the LEFT in an empty parking lot and use the lines to guide you. You can also lower your side mirrors to help you too.

Practice, practice, practice and ALWAYS LOOK AROUND YOU IN PARKING LOTS.....there are pedestrians, buggies, skateboarders, elderly persons with oxygen tanks on carts.....you name it!

Once you feel comfortable reversing into these empty spaces, then practice with a car parked on one side of you, and then eventually try it between two cars.

I never park beside any car which is crooked and partially across that line, or beside any parked car whose front wheels are  still turned. I also avoid parking where a car in very poor condition is parked. They are less likely to be careful when leaving..

  3. I don't give long winded answeres. (practice)

  4. Make sure the space is big (wide and deep) enough for your vehicle...The best way to start is to go about half way past the spot and turn in the opposite direction (away) from the parking spot...Activate turn indicator...This will mean that the back of your vehicle will be pointed at the parking spot, even if at a slight angle...Check both sides and guide it on back in...This works best especially if you're driving a larger vehicle...If you are in traffic, it would not be wise to try backing in a parking spot.
