  1. This isn't the place to learn how to prepare taxes. I would suggest you either hire an Enrolled Agent, that will explain it to you, or take the classes offered by either Jackson Hewitt or H&R Block.

It would be better to do both...the tax courses usually do not cover all of the things you will need to know. I firmly believe that these courses are very worthwhile...everyone should know how a financial transaction will effect their tax return before making a decision. Most of the time these courses are free (you just pay for the books).

    Hope this helps.

  2. You'd be ahead to consult a CPA (NOT a storefront tax place like Block or Hewitt or Liberty) at least for one year - after than if you are comfortable with doing it yourself, use that return as a pattern.

  3. Wow, you don't want to mess around and s***w up your taxes trying to save a few bucks by doing it yourself. I'd suggest you bite the bullet and hire yourself a decent accounting firm (interview them and make sure you get one that already HAS a trucking company, so they know the angles for that business.)

If you can work with them in gathering the right information and keep the right records, it's not going to cost you that much... and, if you ever get audited, they'll be there to battle for you.. and THAT's worth the price.

  5. Take it to a tax firm.  An accounting company, H&R Block, somebody.  That is what tax professionals are for!
