  1. Arms

    -Arms stretch forward

-Hands are turned outwards (halfway), so palms face out and down

-Hands pull out with elbows straight

-When hands are outside shoulders, elbows bend

    -Hands lead in, sweeping down

-Hands get faster until they come together

-Hands are stretched forward with palms down

    Kick

-As hands come together, legs begin recovery

-Feet stay close together, heels travel up to hips

    -Knees remain where they are

    -Toes are curled up

    -Feet are turned out

-Feet whip out and round in a circle (frog kick)

    -Hips rise to surface

    -Legs are fully stretched

    -Feet are swept together

    Body position and breathing

-Hips stay close to the surface

    -Recovery is streamlined

    -Head breaks the surface

-Head and shoulders come upwards and forwards as hands sweep in

-Breathe in when head comes up (when hands start to come together)

-Breathe out when face is in water (as arms stretch forward)

    -Breathe every stroke

  2. If you lay on your belly, put your hands in from of you like you were praying, pull both of your knees up on each side of you like a frog pull your arms down like you were doing a swan dive and push both legs at the same time immediatle after.  When you are done kicking, quickly pull your arms back in the pray motion.... that's the best i can describe it :)

  4. okay, to do breaststroke (the right way), u are on ur stomach and first, u should know that the kick is most of it. to kick, u flex your legs with your feet pointing out, and you kick both legs outward at the same time and snap the legs back together. then bring the legs back in towards your behind and repeat. for the arms, you first have your hands at your chest and the position should be as if you are scooping in something. disregard anyone who says that they should be together. then, you shoot them out in front of u in a streamline position (just have your arms straight and stretched in front of u) and then pull the water back with ur arms and bringing ur arms back in to the position at your chest. when u pull the water back, remember, to be faster, have ur arms bent and scoop the water behind u (DO NOT have your arms straight when u pull because that actually wastes energy and doesn't get u as far then if u have a bend arm), but ur arms DO NOT go behind ur shoulders. next, u have to coordinate it to have a legal stroke. when you are shooting your arms forward, that is when you kick. when u are pulling, u take a breath by lifting your head just above the water, while still looking at the pool, and take a breath. lastly, once u dive in, u have to do an underwater pullout, but ur coach shood teach u that. o, and also, remember to glide when u swim breastroke, but not too much.

  5. Pull-kick-breathe-glide

The pull: imagine a toilet bowel, trace your arms around the toilet, then ape arms, squash a bug, then glide.  This is what we tell the kiddies.

The kick-the heels come up behind you, try to get them as close to your bum as possible.  Turn feet out, arch them by pulling toes up.  Press legs around and together.  Knees should stay close, shoulder width apart.  It is very important not to pop the knees and have them out like a frog, that is wrong, wrong, wrong.

Breathe-head is lifted up out of the water when the elbows are by your sides as you squash the bug, and the kick position is that your feet are up and ready to push around and back, toes up feet arched turned out to the side.

The glide is when you are laying prone in the water recovering (recovery-when you are not pulling, it is underwater for breaststroke, over the water for all others) from the stroke completion before you start again.  This should be a 3 count.  So glide 1-2-3 start again.
