How do you do the diet coke and mentos bomb/fountain?

i used diet coke, and the mentos (flavor= extra mint) for my own personal curiosity, and come to my surprise it didnt work. the only thing that happened was the color of the soda changed. it hardly fizzed, and didnt cause the enormous fountain i expected. did i do something wrong? could anyone who has tried this before give me the recipe for the desired result. do you think it was the flavor of the mentos that caused nothing to happen? help is requested. thanks

Ok, poke a sewing needle with cotton attached through the mentos mint. Hold the cotton and put the mentos mint over the rim of the bottle (don't let the mentos mint touch the liquid!) s***w the cap on, then cut the cotton on the outside of the cap. The mythbusters checked this out and said it works best on diet coke, and you can find some good ones on youtube too.

you need diet coke that part is right. then you have to make sure you take the regular mentos. the ones that are not coated otherwise it wont work. the colored ones are coated. it is easyest if you make a little funnel (with paper or so) and put another piece of paper between the mentos and the bottle so when you pull the paper out the mentos fall into the bottle. careful can make a pretty big mess.
