  1. 1*x = x

    x/1 = x

    So you have

    x + x

    or

    2x

    ------------------------------

    Did you mean 1/x + x/1 ?

If so, multiply the second fraction by x/x (or 1) to get

    1/x + x*x/x

    1/x + x^2/x

Now you can add the fractions as they have the same denominator...

    (x^2 + 1)/x

  2. 2x

1 multiplied by any number is that number. So 1x = x.

Any number divided by 1 is that number as well. So x/1 = x.

    x + x = 2x

  3. x=x which is 1 the answer is one

  4. x/1=x and 1x=x

    so x+x=2x
