How do you do to make sure that children are safe indoors and outdoors?

Practice and teach safety starting at an early age. Don't be so overprotective that they feel like they are living in a bubble though. Give them tools so they understand personal safety and hazards to avoid.

Raise them with respect, so that they respect themselves.

Raise them with choices, so that they know they can make good ones.

Raise them with love, so that they expect it.

Raise them to trust you, so that they can come to you with anything.

It depends on the ages of the children. If they are under 9 years of age, they should be watched at all times. If they are over the age of 9 years of age, you don't have to watch them 24/7 but you should defintly keep an eye on them, and make sure they know how to make good choices and be sure they respect themselves along with the people around them. If they are going further than your house or your backyard, make sure they have a charged mobile/cell phone with credit at all times, and are going with their siblings or friends, and know never to talk to a stranger, or go in a strangers car.

You can't and you shouldn't. within reason children should be allowed to fall, make mistakes and hurt themselves. that's how they learn.

That's all very well when it's your own children but if it's someone elsse's and you're caring for them then I'd guess there are reuirements laid out and you have tobe inspected.
