How do you do vintage hair styles? (pictures)?

Question

I've been straightening my hair for years and have no idea how to use curlers or curling irons. My hair is naturally curly-wavy but I can't get the vintage look. Which works best, curlers or curling irons? I own a curling iron but it's not idiot-proof like my straightening iron... I burned my forehead trying to a 1940s hair style. :(

Use rollers, and i suggest over night rollers to get the effect that u are going for! place them in they are easy, and take them out in the morning doing the rest should be very simple! good look! by the way I think the look your going for is very cheek!

Aycora, The three examples you've given would look great on you. The best way to achieve them would be to set your hair with rollers. It's cumbersome to do yourself especially if you haven't ever set your own hair. I'd find a salon in your neighborhood and treat yourself to a wash cut set and style (bring the photos with you) it's a great experience and will provide you with some insight so you can do it yourself later.

I suggest you use rollers, and put them in your hair over night. They will look more like your pictures.

rita hayworth ( scroll down for steps ) They need hot curlers, so just put in your curlers and blow with hairdryer instead. Then hairspray it.
