How do you drill trough glass with a hand drill?

Does anyone know how to drill through like a glass vase or coke bottle with a hand drill cause the two time I'v tried it cracked.

I use Plumbers Putty to make a "dam" around the area to be drilled. Purchase a glass drillbit (looks like a masonary bit). I use Isopropyl alcohol and salt in the dam to cool the bit and add abrasion.

Using a spade bit or carbide tipped drill flood the area you are drilling with water as you drill.Use a cordless drill if you have one or make sure the drill is properly grounded
