How do you end an eBay auction early???

Question

I sell some random stuff around my house on eBay. Once in awhile people email me and ask me to end the auction early and sell it to them at a certain price.

One, isn't this technically against eBay rules??? Ending an auction early and selling at an unofficial "Buy It Now" price?

Two, how do you even stop an auction. In the "old eBay days", I remember there being a link that says to cancel your listing. I don't see that anymore....

You cannot end an auction if you have bids on it .

If no bids you can end the auction or edit it by making changes.

Technically, your not supposed to end an auction like that...

ESPECIALLY if it has bids on it... but if there are no bids on the item, and it will save you paying additional fee's to ebay, you might as well give in once in a while....  to end an auction early

look at the top of the Ebay page for SITE MAP....

after you click the site map, look under SELLING ACTIVITIES and click END YOUR LISTING.  You will need to have the auction number of the item you wish to end and enter it at this point.

You can end an auction to sell it to the high bidder any time you want.  But why would you want to?  Let it run the full duration so last-minute snipers get a chance to play.

You can end an auction early and cancel all bids, provided it has more than 12 hours remaining.  That would be selling an item off-eBay and is against the rules.  You'll get your account suspended for doing that.

When someone asks you to end your auction early to sell an item for a certain price, you can be d**n sure they're offering less than your widget is worth.  Otherwise they would just go ahead and win the auction.  I tell those people to go ahead and place a bid, and "Good luck!"
