i work a gymnastics place and i have the prescoolers today

we have set stations we rotate to and we have a list of games and how to play them

but we also have about 40 mins where we are in a room and we have a few games to play but most of the time they get bored with those games

so does anyone have any fun little games for kids age 3-5?

also

how do i get the kids to listen to me and stay with the group

we have a few trouble makers in the preschool group who come everyday and they think that they own the gym and they can do whatever they want since they're there everyday

  1. make silly faces, dumb noises out of ur mouth n nose, n jump around swinging ur arms wildly like a gorilla. a gorilla that acts stupid n tells corny jokes is funny.

  2. For them to listen:

Have a signal and tell them all "I will first yell for everyone to listen up and if they dont listen and keep messing around count down from 10 VERY loud and if they dont quiet down everyone has to sit against the wall for 30 seconds and you should give them a lecture."

    To have fun:

You should just have games like who can jump the highest on

the trampoline and they can touch your hand and see who can touch it or something. Or you can have races like kartwheels or summersaults or maybe something like trying to balance on the balance beam. Fun things like that.

  3. There are many ways to occupy the children's time. Most kids love to paint, color, and draw. Also, kids love to be read to. Dancing to music. Teach the the electric slide, or another popular dance.

Getting children to listen is not always easy, but remember to never loose your temper. Get on the child's level and explain to them why they need to do whatever you are asking them to do. If they still don't listen put them in time out until they can agree to participate and listen. Good Luck!

  4. Large-motor games:

    Duck Duck Goose

    Doggy Doggy, Where's Your Bone?

    Red Light, Green Light

    Board games:

    Memory

Bingo of sorts - animal bingo, for example

    Other:

"Tricky Tricks" - children sit in a large circl and one by one, get to come in the middle and do a "trick" - can be anything.

"Guess the Animal" - same as above but acting out an animal.  You can have a jar with animal pictures on it to help.

  5. I think great games for that age are Simon Says, Follow the Leader, games with physical action.

One thing I do with my kids is have them hop on one foot across the room and crab walk back and so on they love to do that, just pick silly things, like be a monkey there and an elephant back.

On the not listening, I would make them sit out the games, and another effective thing I have found is just write  their names down and make a mark every time they wont listen and toward the end of the day,  they owe you so many minutes of time out for each mark, or write the marks where their parents can see how many marks they get. I also do remove a mark at a time if they really behave, it teaches them that good behavior has its benefits.

  6. In response to the second question, you really have to put your foot down. Don't play nice when they take advantage, or they will walk all over you. Speak firmly and clearly, and never hesitate. I swear they can smell fear

  7. read, then let them sleep, then play-time, then lessons...   tell the kids that if they dont behave your telling their parents. be strict, if your nice, they wont listen and take advantage.  4-in-a-row, handgames, cardgames(goldfish, blackjack, heartattack.. ), jumprope, coloring books, blocks, legos...

  8. kids love dont wake up daddy. what u need are pillows for each kid and one person is 'daddy' and they are on a pillow in the middle. the daddy falls asleep and the kids get up a chant "dont wake up daddy! dont wake up daddy" starting soft and getting louder while walking around daddy. soon the daddy says" i hear u! 1,2,3,4,5" when daddy gets to five he look up and all the kids have to be back on their pillows "asleep."

for trouble some kid try to keep their attention. movies work great for that. do omething that fascinates them. if kids still dont behave have them go to time out. or miss out on an activity. kids also love to color. but they go through crayons fast and color sheets. make copies so they dont fight over them.

  9. you could play a game called fruit basket were all of you stand in a circle, each person has a name of a fruit and you all clap to a beat then a person starts off and says the name of a fruit then that person with the name answers and says "yea" and then the person who starts off says"who called you?"and the n the person that answered says the name of another fruit and so on. and if a person answers gets off beat their out and have to get out the circleand the last person standing in the circle wins.

  10. I recommend a game called Hullabaloo, made by Cranium.  You will need a TV with DVD player.  Our gym kids loved it from 3-10 years.  I often had to turn it off, much to their disappointment, because we had somewhere else to be.

  11. A gym is a big place.  Have them do a relay race from the bottom of the gym to the top, pass the baton and back again....

  12. thats easy.im in p4 n my pe teacher gets the whole class to be quiet by sending us back to the class  n we always hated the lesson after pe so we listened to her n if we didnt the lesson that we hated ,the peiod of time will be longer.in other words,by threatening them n u can also get other gym equpments by the schools money.my gym teacher also mde us run around the track 8 times n showed us how to do splits n all that kind of stuff.

  13. From what I've seen, Pre-schoolers like simple games more than complicated ones. try  games like Ring Around the Rosie, or London Bridge

  14. i guess "slip valium into their kool-aid & play 'who can sleep the longest'" is an inappropraite answer, yes?

wow...i'm totally useless to ya on this one...but kudos to you for trying...good luck!

  15. try a puppet show or naming the alphabet. or could try playing outside. or coloring. or naming things that start with letters of the alphabet.

    that's the best i got.

  16. tell them to sit in a circle and read them a few story books in between some things you do.(altogether about 45mintues)

    snack time(20 minutes)

    draw picture(30 minutes)

    paint a picture(30 minutes)

    play time/free time(30 minutes)

    games-

    *duck duck goose

    *freeze tag

    *ball games

    *easy charades

    *matching games

*a name game where they have to act out a action to represent their name

    *sing alongs

    *dressing up

to make them listen to you have a whistle

or ask some parent volunteers to help that would be the best way to listen to you and stay in a group.

                                       GOOD LUCK=D
