Question:

How do you entertain a child when moving houses?

I'm helping look after two children ( 1.5 years old and 4 years old)

They have just moved house and I am helping them unpack and put things away. I want to make the time as fun as possible for them so there are minimal tears or tantrums.

Are there any tricks anyone can give me or games you can tell me about?

If it helps I'm 17 and their mother will also be there (just a little preoccupied with moving things)

Thanks for your help, any suggestions would be great (I haven't really spent more than an hour with them before)

  1. well if u get them coloring books to entertain the 4 year old and some toys

you can also let the 4 year old help unpack some things

and for the 1.5 year old just give it some toys to play with

    play peek-a-boo

    blow bubbles

    i spy

    patty cake

    crafts

    simon says

but first let them get to know u

  2. When I moved recently I also been in the same problem I didn’t know what to do to distract my kids. I asked a friend of mine and she said that she looked on the internet to see what other people do and the usual answer is that they give them toys to play with, my friend also recommended me this site since the toys she bought distract her daughter almost the whole way. It worked for me like a charm.

  3. Ask mom if there is a box of toys they can help put away!!  They will feel important by unpacking and they will be out of mom's way!!

  4. Sit and talk with them. Ask them what they would like to do. Hopefully, you've got some toys to pick from. They'll pretty much let you know what they want to do. Keep in mind, this time of night, they are getting pretty tired even if they don't realize it. You can always put them in the stroller and go for a walk in their new neighborhood!
