  1. what you are doing is perfect =) my son is 4 months now and he was not interested in a single toy or anything until he was like 2 months old. i sang to him a lot and cuddled a lot. And we still do that =)

  2. you're doing a great job! I'm not a mother or anything but i know how to handle newborns.  they need some quiet time to get used to the world, that's how they learn.  keep doing what you're doing : )

  3. as stated before you are doing exactly what you are supposed to.   some other things to think of are playing soothing music, taking them for a walk, show them black & white objects like a mobile/toys, show them mirrors.

  4. Thats awsome. It really is all you can do when they are that old because they cant see very well anyway. singing and talking to him is about all you can do. You will notice as he grows that he starts to look at things more and then you can start showing him things. Shake rattles and toys for him (they love sound) and then eventually he will start to grab for them and shake them himself. But for now his main entertainment is your voice.  You could also massage him if you wanted and give him skin against skin time. Babies love skin against skin. Sounds like your doing well. Keep it up.

  5. You are doing exactly what you should be! Perfect!

    Congrats!

  6. This is what you do with a newborn.  By 3 months the baby will be smiling and cooing.  You'll love it.  Right now, the baby is like a sack of potatos.  Enjoy!

  7. Sounds like your doing great.

The only thing I do added to that is hold a mirror in front of my baby. I bought one made by Sassy for babies.

My youngest baby is 7 weeks old.

  8. just talk to him, he loves to hear your voice... you can also make silly faces at him or hold a rattle in front of his face and do silly voices...but as long as you talk to him and hold him that should be just fine. babies love to hear there mommys voices. congrats to you

  9. That is a great thing to do with a newborn. They don't need entertaining, they just need to feel secure and loved my mom, or dad. They like to hear your voice, and be cuddled so yeah, you are doing a great job, Mommy!

  10. You are doing fine. When boy was tiny I put him face up on a big pillow in my lap and rocked him gently while talking to him.

  11. Dancing with it.

Without being rough and using jerky movements, listen to music and gently swing baby whilst still holding close to you in time to the music. Again baby finds the motion soothing, as you are dancing then again keep maintaining eye contact with the baby.

Talking When nursing/feeding or just generally holding your baby, talk to the baby, you can talk about anything that comes into your head, it can be what you have done that day, what you plan to do tomorrow, your plans for the future absolutely anything. Baby just likes the sound of your voice. Use soft gentle voice make your voice interesting by using different voices or flows of the voice. Not a constant flat level of speech. Look into baby's eyes and keep smiling at the baby as you talk.

Singing Babies love gentle music, so if you arent a great singer yourself, sing along to some relaxing "chill" music, again smiling at the baby and maintaining eye contact.

  12. Something I love to do with my newborn is message.  He really seems to like it and I do it before bed and he sleeps better and longer those nights. The best thing you can do is talk to him because he is always learning even though it may not seem like it. Mostly just love him like you are!

  13. My boy is 4half months, can sit by himself but i always stay sitting behind him just incase! Hes been quite advanced with everything tho, he was 11days over due, pple say that makes them advanced with other things?? um ive put answer to wrong Q!... Your doing great! xx

  14. Perfect!  Newborns really don't need that much activity!  They are perfectly happy with everything you described!

Just be careful with the bath as you should only be sponge bathing him with plain water every other day or so until his cord falls off and heals completely, then you can do a "real" bath with soap and everything.

  15. That's about all you can do with a new born that just need lots of love he is not bored all a new born like to do is eat sleep and p**p.
