  1. Ouch! you are everywhere on this site looking for answers . Is this for a CDA ????  I can give you every answer to every question. However, when you meet with an advisor they will ask you out-of-the blue questions such as 'tell me an activity to promote small motor skills on the playground.' Yahoo Answers cannot help you then !!! read some of the links I left on other questions you asked. you will gain so much. The essays are not rocket science, just write common sense. As you sit here reading this, close your eyes and do a mental walk through a classroom. What would you do to make sure the kiddies are safe and stay healthy? That is what the CDA advisor looks for.

  2. Is this your homework?  I think I've seen your name a time or two with questions that sound like homework.  It concerns me when early childhood students ask questions that really are "common sense" questions.  My kids/grandchildren might be in their classroom some day and will they have remembered what was taught in their classes?

Let's stop and think about this one..

What does safe and healthy mean to you?

    Safety:

    * children won't choke on toys

    * children will not drink cleaning products

    * children will not get splinters from the shelving

    * children will not have the cots falling down on top of them

    * children will not have to worry about being bullied

    * children will not be hurt because the swing broke

etc...the list goes on and on.

So how can you establish and maintain?

    * toys are of appropiate size

    * cleaning products are not in the classroom or have designated spots high above the children or are in locked contaiers

    * routine checks will be done by teachers to be sure equipment, shelving, and toys are in good repair.

    * cots will be stacked only so high or be placed in a separate closet

*teacher/child ratio will be appropiate and problem solving techniques will be taught

    Health:

    * proper hand washing for children and staff

    * policies on head lice and communicable diseases

    * tables to be washed with bleach solution (changed daily)

    * gloves will be worn with all food prep

    * food, water, refrigerator temperature appropiate

    * toys and equipment cleaned routinely

    etc.

    That should get  you started.
