Review test for stupid mistakes before turning in

  3. Listen/pay attention in class.

Do your homework and make sure you understand it.

Ask your teacher if you don't understand something.

Be clear about what your teacher expects from you. This includes what contributes to your grade. If class participation is part of your grade, make the effort to participate even if you are normally a quiet person.

Here is a little tip that helped me in college:

If you are studying for a written test, study by writing things. This may sound strange, but it works. So, if you have a list of definitions to learn, write them over and over. You will learn them better. And, since you will be writing on the test, you are actually practicing taking a test. (It is worth the extra paper you will use for studying.)

And, when you have a lot of homework, make sure you do it and also take breaks. Sometimes you can get stale from studying too much. Your mind needs to be refreshed once in a while. But, you have to find the right balance here. Don't take this as meaning "I can take all the breaks I want."
