  1. Tell him because its denser or heavier for the same volume than air. When light passes through see through things with different density it bends and reflects light. That will probably satisfy him.


  2. aha a 5 year old i would take the magic approach lol...

    water and air have "particals" pretend the air partical is a peice of dust and the water partical is a tenis ball and say wich is easier to see..... lol i dunno i tried

  3. Blow up a balloon.  They'll realize there must be something making it get bigger, and then they can then play with it.
