    12 - 3x = 12 - 3x

    if you're going to continue solving...

    12 -12 = -3x + 3x

    0 = 0


  2. well for 3(4-x) you multiply 3 and 4 and 3 and x. so thats 12 and 3x.

    12 -3x=12 -3x!
