I am going to put my mare on rice bran to put weight on her. I have never used it before as i usually feed oil but she won't eat it so I'm trying rice bran. What should i expect when i buy it. Do you feed it like bran mash? Is their a ratio of what to feed her. She weighs 1350. My vet wasn't very clear when i asked him these questions. He basically said experiment. Thanks for your answers.

  1. Well, first thing is I would recommend triple crown rice bran. I can also say you can see results in the first week. I feed it with beat pulp because it is very powdery but,  If you dont like that idea just try to water it down to reduce the risk of choking.

My thoroughbred gets 1 can of triple crown senoir and 1/2 can of rice bran and 2 cans of beat pulp. but you can try out what ever works best for you.

  2. Feed good hay, or pasture, and a high quality feed, Use high end wormer, (Not the discount store stuff) and you should be fine!  If you do this, and still have problms, then its vet time!
