Global warming 'skeptics' often criticize Al Gore for having a high energy consumption home.

"Gore has gotten LEED gold certification from the Green Building Council - the 10,000-square-foot home is one of only 14 in the U.S. to achieve this rating, and the only home in Tennessee that's gotten any certification at all, according to the Associated Press. (There is also a platinum standard) Solar panels, solar roof fans, a rainwater collection system, and geothermal heating were all installed at the house. All incandescent lights - including those on the Christmas tree! - were replaced with either compact fluorescents or light-emitting diodes. And according to AP, energy use at the home decreased 11 percent during Tennessee's sultriest months, when the area was also hit by a heat wave."

  1. Thanks for the info!

  2. What does he want a cookie?

  3. Jealousy

  4. Why should people give him credit for doing what we should all be doing?

  5. yes he's brought it up to the same green rating that George bushes house in Texas has had for many years.

he did it a little late & because of public outcry but good for him. he's finally actually doing something positive for the environment.

  6. How do you feel about someone sneezing in a far off country?

I feel the same about his house, it doesn't affect me one way or another and I could care less.

By the way, wasn't it Gore who invented the internet?

I hear that Bush is mad because he can't find a way to blow it up.

  7. I'm glad about his contribution to the environment but to me he should have been our President instead of an energy spokesperson because as President he could have done so much more and now because he wouldn't fight we need him more than ever.  Why was he such a spineless boring shell of a man when the country really needed him?  Look at us now because our president focuses on war (pollution included) and money instead of the environment and his people.

  8. Yes I can see him now, patting himself on the back.  I guess being a hypocrit for all this time finally got to him. Why did he not build it that way in the first place?

  9. WOW.. he should get another Nobel peace prize for that! Now what about his private jet trips around the world??

  10. Honestly, good for him to go through the effort, but I have 2 feet of snow outside my door and feel like the global warming thing has been made up by the manufacturers of those compact flourescent bulbs.........

Cynical, I know.  But I am more concerned about the Rx medications being found in our drinking water.
